Mechanical engineering first job interview tips

First of all you need to be well dressed in a formal manner for your first mechanical engineering job interview. This is the first expression you are going to print on your Interviewer’s mind. During their first interview, many students are so puzzled that they often ask for a glass of water when they enter the interview room. Don't do this mistake. Many of the HR managers take this as a negative point of personality in a student. If you need to during some water, drink it before you enter the room. Don't ask for it during interview or you are simply rejected.
Then you are asked many questions about you, your family, your education and your personality. You are often asked about the positive and negative points of your personality. They will be asking you about the situations in which you were leading a team and what difficulties did you face as a team leader? They might ask you tricky questions that what did you learn from your mechanical engineering education.
Another important question they are going to ask you is what area of work you prefer to be in. Don't simply answer with "any area" or answers like "I can handle myself in any area". This will annoy your interviewer. Be specific about your area of interest. This is why you need to thoroughly read company information on their website or somewhere else.
Team play is very crucial and important factor in all of the engineering companies. So this is what they need in you. Don't show them at any point that you are not a good team player. Tell them from your past experience and examples that you are a good team player.
Make an eye contact with your interviewer and don't make any visual or physical moves which can annoy him. For example some students start looking at the roof as if they are thinking about the answer. Some students will be playing with their fingers or legs and even chair. Don't do these moves. Stay confident as no one is going to hurt you.
At the end of the interview with mechanical engineers, many of the interviewers ask avery tricky question: Do you have anything which you want to ask from us about our company or this job? Be prepared to ask them a few questions. Students who answer with "No sir we don't have any questions about your company and this job" are uaually rejected. Because HR managers are always looking for people who are curious to know more.
